| It
is a legal requirement for Clients to employ a competent CDM
Co-ordinator to assist them in their construction project if the
construction phase of the contract last more than 30 days or 500 person
days. Failure to do so is an offence punishable in a court of law.
Why Tennyson Suite?
Our
commercial clients save time and money by employing our qualified,
trained and experienced CDM Co-ordinators to assist them throughout the
planning, construction and completion process of their projects.
Saving Money For Our Clients.
On
one project alone, Tennyson Suite saved the client and contractor
together over £9500 by recommending a more effective and efficient
method of working on the project. Our in–house co-ordinator introduced
to the contractor, an alternative method of work to be employed during
the construction phase that minimised the risk of injury and reduced the
contract programme by 3 weeks.
Working Together in Safety.
Tennyson
Suite provide an in-house team of competent professionals who possess
in-depth knowledge of the construction process, contract law and all
aspects of health and safety for this specialist role as a legal duty
holder working together in safety within the client’s construction team.
Independent Advice.
It
is essential that the Client receives unbiased and independent advice
on the health and safety matters with regard to their project to enable
the work to be properly planned, managed, controlled and completed
effectively and efficiently. Tennyson Suite provides a wholly
independent service that dovetails into the team of fellow professionals
appointed by the Client.
When Do I Need to Appoint a CDMC?
The
early appointment of the CDM Co-ordinator is crucial for the effective
planning and establishing of management arrangements for the project
from the start.
The
CDM Regulations 2007 require the appointment to take place as soon as
is practicable after initial design work or other preparation for
construction work has begun.
The
CDM Co-ordinator needs to be in a position to be able to co-ordinate
the design work and advise on the suitability of the designs, and
therefore the CDMC should be appointed before significant detailed
design work begins. Significant detailed design work includes concept
design and implementation of any strategic brief. Proper consideration
of the health and safety implications of the design for those who build,
maintain and repair the structure will make a significant contribution
to reducing its whole life cost, and will make the delivery to time,
cost and quality more likely.
