Day 1 of the SMSTS Course Underway
Posted on: 18/04/2023SMSTS Course - Day 1 Complete.Tennyson Suite's Training Centre was the venue for the latest SMSTS Course to be held for its clients.
Amongst the delegates attending were projects and contracts managers and newly appointed site managers from Bishop and Levett and Project Managers from University Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust.
Using practical team workshops, the delegates have experienced hands-on risk assessment training, learnt about the primary and subordinate health and safety legislation, and taken away practical technological advancements to help them in the workplace, including applications such as 'what-3-words' to direct deliveries, operatives, and visitors directly to their site entrance gates / doors, vehicle parking locations, and also specific workplaces.
Over the next 5 weeks, the course will examine those construction activities undertaken on their projects which require proactive health and safety management to ensure a safe working environment on their sites.

- Services – Electric, Gas, Water, Data, Telecoms
- Buried Services and Overhead Cables and other Obstructions
- Work Near Power Lines
- Excavations, also considering Burial and/or Engulfment
- Mobile Plant
- Hand Arm Vibration
- Noise (inherent and introduced)
- Confined Space Working
- First Aid Provision
- Site Administration
