SMSTS Course - Day 4 Completed

This week we focused on the effective management planning of a construction project.
The delegates divided into teams and using the CITB Plans, set out and presented their proposals for planning, managing, and controlling health, safety and welfare on their projects.
Hazards considered for the task included:
1. Site Presentation and Security
2. COVID-19 – Plan, Management, Review
3. Access and Egress
4. Traffic Management and Vehicle/Pedestrian Segregation
5. Welfare Facilities
6. Control of Pests
7. Personal Protective Equipment
8. Falls from Height
9. Lifting Operations and Materials Handling
10. Work Involving Heavy Prefabricated Components
11. Manual Handling
12. Control of Substances Hazardous to Health
13. Asbestos
14. Ionising and Non-Ionising Radiation
15. Explosives
16. Environmental Protection
17. Fire Precautions, Exits and Emergency Procedures
18. Services – Electric, Gas, Water, Data, Telecoms
19. Pressurised Systems (steam, heating and gas)
20. Buried Services and Overhead Cables and other Obstructions
21. Work Near Power Lines
22. Excavations, also considering Burial and/or Engulfment
23. Risk of Drowning
24. Work on Wells, Underground Works and Tunnels
25. Diving Operations
26. Work in a Compressed Air Atmosphere
27. Mobile Plant
28. Hand Arm Vibration
29. Noise (inherent and introduced)
30. Confined Space Working
31. First Aid Provision
32. Site Administration

The teams presented their excellent proposals in a role play to a prospctive commercial client.

Who should attend the course?
The course is for those delegates who hold or are about to hold the role of site manager, contracts manager, or project manager.

Delegates must be competent in written and spoken English necessary for operating efficiently at site management, senior site management and project management level. The delegate shall benefit from group working with the other attendees.

Aims of the course.
The course aims to help delegates to plan, manage, monitor, and implement health, safety and environmental aspects on a construction project or site, in accordance with the latest legal provisions, in line with their duty in their respective management role.

Course duration and attendance.
Course days commence at 09.00 and conclude at 16.45.
Delegates shall be required to attend all 5 days at the Training Centre and pass an end of course written exam to gain the SMSTS Certificate.
The certificate lasts for 5 years in which time attendance to an SMSTS Refresher Course is required.

Course and workbooks are provided within the cost as is tea and coffee refreshments.

The cost per delegate is £695.00 + VAT, although discounts are available for bookings of six persons or more made by the same employer.
